Patient Balance Write Offs

In this topic, you will learn how to write off or adjust charges in INSIGHT EMR that are applied to the patient balance.

Open the Write Off Charges Dialog

From Insight EMR, open the Write Off Charges dialog by selecting Write Off Accounts from the Collections menu.

Writing off Charges

  1. From the Client list, select the client by last name or use the patient lookup. All patient charges for the selected client will appear in the grid.
  2. Select the charges to write off.

    All charges in the grid may be selected or line items may be selected by pressing Ctrl+Click.
  3. From the Reason for Corrections list, select a reason for the correction.
  4. Click Write Off Selected.

Adjusting Charges

  1. From the Client list, select the client by last name or use the patient lookup. All patient charges for the selected client will appear in the grid.
  2. Enter a value in the Adjust To column for every charge to be adjusted.
  3. Select all rows with adjustments. All charges in the grid may be selected or line items may be selected by pressing Ctrl and then clicking the line item.
  4. From the Reason for Correction list, select a reason for the correction.
  5. Click Adjust Selected.
